I think it’s safe to say that Horiyoshi III is the man. Well, this video, which was done by Vice, showcases the master’s love, drive, intensity, and knowledge for the craft of tattooing. I’m not going to delve too much into specific parts of the video, however, I found it very interesting hearing his take on the tattoos that he gives his customers, and how they have little to no say in what they get, as well as tattoos losing their aesthetic value as they become more popular. I thought that this part of the interview was quite fascinating, and figured that these values were something that he most likely had instilled in him early on when he was learning to tattoo.
